After a few days waiting at basecamp, our porters and horses arrive to take more than 270 loads back to Askole. It was strange walking back down after being in camp on the mountains for the past five weeks. It really hit home then, that we were done and that there would be no summits made here in Pakistan. The mood was somber as we left camp. We all kept turning around to take one more picture of Broad Peak and K2. By early afternoon it had clouded over and we were struck by high winds and rain for more than an hour. We walked over loose rock and sat on melting ice as we steadily made our way down - not the nice day I was hoping for! The trek to Goro 2 took a little more than 8 hours. Tomorrow's hike will be easier, but also a bit longer.
